Chief Olalekan Fabayo, the Southwest Zonal Secretary of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has announced his resignation from the party and withdrawn his membership with immediate effect.

In a resignation letter dated 17th July 2026, Obtained by Thecasternews, Fabayo stated that his decision followed “careful consideration and personal reflection.”

The former zonal secretary also confirmed that he was stepping down from his position as the NNPP Southwest Zonal Secretary, bringing an end to his role within the party’s leadership.

Reflecting on his time in office, Fabayo expressed appreciation to the party leadership, fellow executive members, state chairmen, and stakeholders across the Southwest for the opportunity to serve. He noted that it had been a privilege to contribute to the party’s activities and regional engagements during his tenure.

He further requested that the party update its records to reflect his resignation and withdrawal of membership, while wishing the NNPP success in its future endeavors.

The resignation letter signed by Chief Olalekan Fabayo, with the effective date of 17th July 2026.

As of the time of filing this report, Chief Fabayo did not disclose the reasons behind his resignation beyond citing personal reflection, and the NNPP leadership has yet to issue an official response.
