The Elegboro of Ijebu-Ijesa, Oba Olufemi Agunsoye, has inaugurated a campaign council for Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi, the Accord Party candidate for the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye and High Chief Dele Faseru were named patrons of the campaign council at the inauguration held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Ijebu-Ijesa Town Hall.
Speaking at the event, Oba Agunsoye expressed confidence in Olajengbesi’s aspiration, declaring that the ancestors of Ijesa North had a role to play in his candidacy and would support his ambition to represent the constituency at the National Assembly.
The monarch further expressed the belief that any obstacle to Olajengbesi’s aspiration would be overturned, while the presence of the Olomo of Omo-Ijesa and the Oniwoye of Iwoye-Ijesa added a traditional dimension to the gathering.

The inauguration attracted political leaders, party stakeholders, community representatives, professionals, women, youths, students and grassroots mobilisers from across Oriade and Obokun Local Government Areas.
The campaign council is headed by Hon. Mayowa Adejorin as Chairman, with Hon. Bayo Ogungbangbe serving as Deputy Chairman and Prince Adesoji Baderin as Director-General.
Hon. Ladesuyi Tope and Hon. Sola Adeyekun were appointed Deputy Directors-General for Obokun and Oriade respectively. Other members of the central leadership include Hon. Omotoso Eniola as Secretary, Hon. Ademola Asaju as Assistant Secretary, and Sodiq Lawal Chocomilo as Spokesperson.
To strengthen its operations, the campaign organisation has established 20 committees responsible for coordinating different aspects of the campaign across the constituency.
The committees cover strategy and political planning, elders and stakeholder engagement, grassroots mobilisation, ward coordination, youth and women mobilisation, media and publicity, digital communication, research and policy, legal and compliance, election monitoring, finance and fundraising, logistics, security, professional engagement, student affairs, religious engagement, party affairs, support groups, and diaspora and external relations.
The committees are expected to drive grassroots outreach, strengthen stakeholder engagement, coordinate campaign communication, develop policy initiatives and enhance election preparedness across the constituency.
Olajengbesi, a legal practitioner, is seeking election on the platform of the Accord Party to represent Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
