The Pelumi Olajengbesi Campaign Organisation (POCO) has described Hon. Wole Oke as “no longer marketable,” alleging that some of his aides have resorted to seeking support privately amid the recent resignation of some All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains in Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency.

The organisation, in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Sodiq Lawal Chocomilo, said the reported political developments reflected growing dissatisfaction with Oke’s representation of the constituency.

According to a statemrnt obtained by Thecasternewsng.com, POCO argued that the people of Oriade/Obokun had reached a point where they wanted a change in leadership, citing what it described as two decades of inadequate legislative achievements and a lack of significant legacy projects capable of improving residents’ welfare.

The campaign organisation questioned Oke’s legislative record, asking him to identify major projects and development initiatives he had facilitated for the constituency during his years in the House of Representatives.

It specifically demanded explanations on the absence of a federal university, a federal medical centre and an industrial hub, which it claimed were among the critical development needs of the constituency.

On lawmaking, POCO alleged that Oke only began sponsoring bills more actively in 2023 after facing criticism over his legislative performance. It further claimed that no bill sponsored by the lawmaker in the past 20 years had become law and produced transformative benefits for the constituency.

The organisation also expressed concern over the condition of the Military Games Village in Esa-Oke, which it said Oke facilitated in 2010. According to POCO, the facility has deteriorated over the years, contrary to expectations that it would serve as a catalyst for development in the area.

It also criticised what it described as the absence of legacy school projects facilitated by the lawmaker in Oriade/Obokun, while alleging that he had established private schools in Abuja, Ibadan and Osogbo.

Beyond development and legislative performance, POCO accused Oke of displaying an attitude of political entitlement and disrespect towards traditional rulers and community leaders in Ijesa North. It alleged that his conduct had contributed to growing calls for a change in representation.

The organisation maintained that the constituency needed a new direction anchored on effective lawmaking, accountability, humility and people-oriented development.

It described the current political developments as an opportunity for the electorate to reconsider the quality of representation they deserve, insisting that political office should be treated as a public trust rather than personal ownership.

POCO subsequently declared its support for the Accord Party candidate for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi, whom it described as a candidate capable of providing youthful energy, effective legislative representation and a fresh approach to governance.

The organisation said Olajengbesi would work towards advancing the development aspirations of the people and opening a new chapter of prosperity for Oriade/Obokun.
