The Accord Party candidate for Ijesa South Federal Constituency, Hon. Alaba Popoola Ibrahim, popularly known as Alabama, has assured party members and eligible voters of his commitment to the party, declaring that he would not defect to another political platform if elected in the 2027 general election.
According to a statemrnt issued by his Media Office, obtained by Thecasternewsng.com,, Alabama gave the assurance on Wednesday while addressing party faithful who visited his office in Okesa, Ilesa, amid concerns over the defection of some elected politicians to other political parties.
During the meeting, a party member, Mr Opeyemi Aluko, asked whether Alabama would remain in the Accord Party if elected or follow the example of a member of the House of Representatives who was alleged to have defected after securing electoral victory on the party’s platform.
Responding, Alabama urged party members not to panic, assuring them of his loyalty to the Accord Party and its ideals.
Alabama encouraged members to remain calm and maintain confidence in his commitment, emphasising the importance of trust and loyalty between political candidates and their supporters.
The assurance comes amid concerns among some Accord Party members over political defections and their implications for party loyalty, electoral mandates and effective representation.
