House of Rep. Member
The House of Representatives candidate for the Ifedayo/Boluwaduro/Ila Federal Constituency, Hon. Olalekan Fabayo, has described politics as a contest of interests rather than a platform for hatred, urging political actors and their supporters to uphold mutual respect despite their differences.
Speaking with TheCasterNews on the latest political developments as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum, Fabayo said political interests may differ, but interpersonal relationships should remain sacrosanct.
According to him, “Politics is a game of interest, not a game of hatred. “Our interests may differ, but our interpersonal relationships must remain sacrosanct”. Let our politics be like our prayers—guided by peace, love, tolerance, and respect for one another.”
Fabayo stressed the need for issue-based politics/campaigns, calling on politicians and their supporters to shun bitterness, divisive rhetoric, and actions capable of undermining peace and unity within their communities.
He expressed optimism that the 2027 general elections would provide Nigerians with another opportunity to make informed choices based on competence, vision, and commitment to public service rather than personal attacks or political animosity.
The House of Representatives hopeful also urged residents of the Ifedayo, Boluwaduro, and Ila Federal Constituency to remain peaceful and continue promoting harmony as political activities intensify ahead of the polls.
Fabayo further cautioned politicians against engaging in or encouraging political violence, noting that youths are often used as instruments to perpetrate such acts.
He urged young people to resist being used for violence or any form of social vice, emphasizing that they should instead channel their energy toward productive and lawful activities that contribute to the development of their communities and the nation.
