The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Olamide Tiamiyu, has reacted strongly to comments made by Dr. Bolaji Akinola, Special Adviser to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, describing the remarks as reckless, politically motivated and “deeply irresponsible.”

Akinola had dismissed allegations by the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, linking the former governor to recent violence in the state, and went further to suggest that the Speaker required psychological evaluation.

Responding to him, Tiamiyu condemned the statement in very strong terms, insisting that Akinola’s comments were an unwarranted personal attack and a distraction from the core issues surrounding the violence.

According to him“Akinola needs mental evaluation. It is understandable that he would be as mean as the person he represent and that is why he could not blink eye lid on the death of Ezekiel Olapade.”

Tiamiyu further alleged that the remarks reflected political desperation within the camp of the former governor, adding that attempts to defend his record would not succeed through insults or intimidation.

“The desperation of Akionla boss to return to Osun Government House through a lackey is not a secret, but he should not do that at the detriment of people’s lives for posterity sake,“ he said.

The Speaker’s aide also criticised what he described as efforts to “clean” the image of the former governor, saying that such narratives would not erase public perception on the current political developments in the state.

Tiamiyu maintained that Akinola was not serving the best interest of his principal through his public statements, but rather creating more hatred for him in an already charged political atmosphere.

“Akinola is not helping him and it is understandable; he is more of whatever benefits he will make than to advise his boss rightly on his dirty image in Osun political circle.
