The Yorùbá Youth Council (YYC), Osun State Chapter, has welcomed the newly deployed Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, CP Ibrahim D. Zungura, to the state.

The Council described the appointment of CP Zungura as an opportunity to further strengthen the security architecture of Osun State and deepen cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force, youths and other critical stakeholders.

In a statement issued by the Council’s Public Relations Officer, Omoluabi Joseph Oyelami, the YYC congratulated the new Commissioner and urged him to prioritize community policing, intelligence gathering, protection of lives and property, and the maintenance of peace across the state.

The Council also called for stronger collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and other sister security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other relevant agencies.

According to the Council, effective inter-agency cooperation is essential to preventing crime, responding swiftly to security threats and ensuring a peaceful environment for residents, businesses and visitors across Osun State.

The YYC further appealed to the new Commissioner to establish a robust relationship with youth organizations, traditional institutions, community leaders and civil society groups, noting that young people have a vital role to play in intelligence sharing, crime prevention and peacebuilding.

The Council expressed its readiness to support legitimate efforts aimed at promoting peace, security and development in Osun State, while urging residents to cooperate with security agencies and provide useful information that could assist in combating criminal activities.

The Yorùbá Youth Council wished CP Ibrahim D. Zungura a successful tenure and expressed confidence that his leadership would contribute meaningfully to a safer and more peaceful Osun State.
