The Spokesperson of the Pelumi Olajengbesi Campaign Organization (POCO), Sodiq Lawal Chocomilo, has described the House of Representatives candidate for the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, Hon. Pelumi Olajengbesi, as a man of integrity, insisting that he has no criminal record or history of corruption.
Chocomilo made the assertion on Thursday while featuring on Hard Punch, a political programme on Afinju 90.7 FM, Osogbo, anchored by Boluwatife Ajayi, Monitored by Thecasternewsng.com

According to him, Olajengbesi has maintained an unblemished record in both his public and private dealings.
“Pelumi Olajengbesi has no criminal record, either civil or criminal. He is a saint, a complete saint. We need people who are not only competent, responsible and qualified but who also have the fear of God in their hearts and good character,” Chocomilo said.
Explaining his decision to join Olajengbesi’s campaign, Chocomilo said his appointment as the organisation’s spokesperson was a continuation of his long-standing advocacy for the masses as a journalist and activist.
He said he had consistently advocated for the interests of the poor, disadvantaged and vulnerable members of society, while demanding effective representation and quality service delivery.
“I have always identified with the poor, the disadvantaged and those who are struggling. I have always demanded efficient representation and quality delivery. I have always taken the side of the people,” he said.
Chocomilo explained that his movement into partisan politics had not changed the principles behind his advocacy, but had only changed the approach through which he sought to achieve them, adding that “The story has not changed.
“The tale is not different. The players and strategy are wholly different. Rather than criticising across social media platforms and going to radio and television stations to criticise, we are now ensuring that we put into practice all that we have been saying,” he added.
The POCO spokesperson also called for a departure from what he described as the traditional approach to politics in the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, urging voters and stakeholders to accommodate new ideas and emerging political actors.
“We cannot continue doing the same thing the same way and expect a different result. Allow new people to test the water. Accommodate fresh ideas,” he said.
Chocomilo disclosed that he had known Olajengbesi for more than a decade, dating back to the candidate’s days as a student union leader.
He further argued that leadership positions reveal a person’s character, quoting former United States First Lady Michelle Obama as saying, “Power does not corrupt. Power reveals true character.”
He also highlighted what he described as some of Olajengbesi’s interventions in the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, including sponsorship of youth education abroad, digital skills training, vocational training, job facilitation, support for young farmers and assistance to small businesses.
