Ahead of the January 2027 general election, the Accord Party candidate for the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi, has unveiled a 335-member campaign council to coordinate his campaign activities across the constituency.

The campaign council, announced on Wednesday 7th october,2026, comprises political stakeholders, professionals, community leaders, women, youths, students and grassroots mobilisers drawn from Oriade, Obokun and beyond.

In a statement obtained by thecasternewsng.com, The council is structured into 20 specialised committees covering strategy and political planning, mobilisation, ward coordination, youth and women mobilisation, media and publicity, digital communication, research and policy, legal and compliance, election monitoring, finance, logistics, security, professional engagement, students, religious engagement, party affairs and diaspora engagement.

Among the key appointments is Comrade Olorunfemi Olatunji, a former Students’ Union Government President of the Federal Polytechnic Ede, who was appointed Chairman of the Logistics and Operations Committee.

Olatunji, who has been involved in the political movement around Olajengbesi, is expected to coordinate the campaign’s logistical and operational activities alongside the committee’s Secretary, Adewuyi Adeniran Abuga, and other members of the team.

The appointment further reflects the longstanding political relationship between Olajengbesi and Olorunfemi, who have worked together since 2016.

Speaking on his appointment, Olorunfemi popularly known as Awoko described the responsibility as a call to duty rather than merely a political position, stressing that his commitment to the cause had involved significant personal sacrifices.

He recalled that he left the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2018 because of his conviction about the political direction he chose to pursue. He also said he resigned from his employment in January 2026 as part of his commitment to the political struggle.

According to him, his acceptance of the appointment was based on his belief that the people of Oriade/Obokun deserve purposeful representation, adding that the campaign requires dedication, discipline, coordination and sacrifice.

The newly constituted Logistics and Operations Committee is expected to coordinate movement, campaign materials, venues, field operations, schedules and other operational requirements of the campaign.

Other key appointments include Hon. Mayowa Adejorin as Chairman, Hon. Bayo Ogungbangbe as Deputy Chairman and Prince Adesoji Baderin as Director-General.

Hon. Ladesuyi Tope and Hon. Sola Adeyekun were appointed Deputy Directors-General for Obokun and Oriade respectively.
