(AFAN), Oriade Chapter, and the Nigerian Women for Agricultural Progress and Development Initiative (NWAPDI)
The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Oriade Chapter, and the Nigerian Women for Agricultural Progress and Development Initiative (NWAPDI) have endorsed Barr. Pelumi Olajengbesi, the Accord Party candidate for the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency seat, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced at a joint stakeholders’ meeting in Ijebu-Jesa, where leaders of both associations expressed confidence in his candidacy and proposed agricultural development agenda.
Speaking on behalf of the association, High Chief Ojo Sunday Fasosin, Governor of AFAN, Oriade Chapter, and Saba of Egboroland, said the endorsement was informed by Olajengbesi’s plans for agricultural transformation, food security, access to credit for smallholder farmers, and the empowerment of women in agribusiness.

Fasosin said members of the association had resolved to support his candidacy, citing his commitment to addressing challenges such as mechanisation, market access, and women’s participation in agriculture.
Similarly, NWAPDI leaders, Mrs. Olasupo Jumoke of the Obokun Chapter and Mrs. Deborah Ojo of the Oriade Chapter, described Olajengbesi’s agricultural agenda as an opportunity to promote food security and agricultural development across the constituency.
A farmer and resident of Ijebu-Jesa, Fatinikun Micheal, also expressed support for the proposed adoption of modern agricultural tools, saying he was ready to work with the campaign council on policies to improve farm productivity.

In a statement signed by the spokesperson of the Pelumi Olajengbesi Campaign Organization (POCO), Sodiq Lawal Chocomilo, the candidate thanked the associations for their endorsement and pledged to make agriculture a cornerstone of his legislative agenda if elected.
Olajengbesi promised to pursue interventions covering farm inputs, agricultural extension services, storage facilities, and special agricultural grants for women and youths.
He also called for urgent measures to tackle poverty and encourage greater youth participation in agriculture.
“We must declare a state of emergency on poverty and partner with farmers for innovative ideas that will make agriculture more attractive for youths and more productive for society,” he said.
The candidate added that he would consult farmers and women in agriculture to develop strategies for improved productivity, assuring the associations of his commitment to addressing their concerns if elected.
