As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections gather momentum in Ijesa South Federal Constituency, questions surrounding political loyalty, grassroots support and shifting alliances have become subjects of discussion.

According to Thecasternews, A politician once contested an election with limited financial resources and political structure, relying heavily on supporters who mobilised, made sacrifices and worked tirelessly to secure his victory.

Today, some members of that support base reportedly feel sidelined, alleging that the politician has moved closer to new allies while distancing himself from those who helped build his political foundation.

As another election approaches, questions remain over whether the situation reflects political realignment, unresolved disagreements or a breakdown of trust.

While political alliances may change, grassroots supporters deserve recognition, consultation and mutual respect.

So, who truly betrayed whom: the supporters who feel forgotten or the politician accused of distancing himself from those who stood by him?

Politics may change, but loyalty should not be taken for granted. Those who helped build a political structure deserve to have their voices heard, even when disagreements arise.

Ultimately, a fair judgment requires hearing all sides before drawing conclusions.

Meanwhile, Hon. Popoola Alaba Ibrahim, popularly known as Alabama, has called for support and massive votes ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election, as political consultations and mobilisation continue across Ijesa South.

But one question remains in Ijesa South: Who stood in the rain before the umbrella was provided?
