A cleric and public affairs commentator, Pastor Olaoye Emmanuel Adebowale, has urged Nigerian youths to embrace wisdom, discipline, integrity and purposeful living, describing them as critical ingredients for national development and sustainable success.

Pastor Olaoye made the call in a message titled “Be A Wise Youth: Nigeria’s Greatest Need,” where he reflected on the challenges facing the country and the role of young people in shaping a better future.

According to him, although Nigeria is blessed with a vibrant, energetic and talented youth population, the nation continues to grapple with numerous socio-economic challenges, including insecurity, unemployment, cybercrime, drug abuse, corruption and an increasing culture of instant gratification.

In a statement obtained by TheCasterNews, the cleric maintained that Nigeria’s greatest challenge is not a shortage of talent but a deficiency of wisdom among many young people.

Drawing lessons from the biblical account in 2 Chronicles 10:1–16, Pastor Olaoye cited the story of Rehoboam, who inherited a prosperous kingdom but lost a significant portion of it after rejecting wise counsel in favour of advice that appealed to his ego.

He also referenced Luke 16:1–8, where Jesus highlighted the virtues of wisdom, foresight and strategic thinking, stressing the importance of making prudent decisions in navigating life’s complexities.

The cleric observed that many youths desire success without embracing the discipline required to attain it, while others pursue wealth without seeking wisdom. He warned that the quest for quick success and shortcuts often leads to disappointment, failure and destruction.

Despite the challenges confronting the nation, Pastor Olaoye encouraged young Nigerians not to lose hope, noting that every generation is ultimately remembered by how it responds to adversity.

“A wise youth does not blame the system alone; he develops solutions. A wise youth does not follow every trend; he follows purpose. A wise youth understands that integrity, competence and character remain the true foundations of lasting success,” he said.

He further urged young people to choose knowledge over ignorance, innovation over excuses, hard work over shortcuts, and service over selfish ambition.

According to him, Nigeria’s future will not be shaped by the loudest voices but by the wisest minds capable of providing solutions to the nation’s challenges.

He challenged youths across the country to position themselves as agents of transformation rather than victims of circumstance, stressing that the progress of the nation depends largely on the quality of leadership and character displayed by its younger generation.

Quoting Proverbs 4:7, Pastor Olaoye concluded: “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom,” urging Nigerian youths to make wisdom their foremost pursuit as they prepare to lead the nation into a brighter future.
