The governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Osun State, Dr Oyelami Saliu , has cautioned groups and individuals against ethnic and religious profiling and divisive rhetorics capable of threatening the peaceful coexistence of residents in the state.

Orisunlagba stressed that Osun remains a proud Yoruba state that must continue to uphold the cherished values of unity, respect, tolerance, and the Omoluabi ethos for which the people are known.

According to him, criminality should never be associated with ethnicity, tribe, religion or place of origin, noting that anyone involved in unlawful acts should simply be identified and treated as a criminal irrespective of whether such a person is from Osogbo, Ifẹ, Ilesa, Ede, Iwo, Ejigbo, Odo Otin, or any other part of the state or Nigeria.

The PRP governorship candidate emphasized that the people of Osun State are widely respected for their cultural values, hospitality, and peaceful nature, adding that the actions of a few individuals who lack the Omoluabi trait should not be used to stigmatize any ethnic group or community.

He further stated that other tribes and residents willing to cooperate peacefully and contribute positively to the growth and development of Osun State are welcome, provided there is mutual respect for the people, culture, language, traditions, and values of the land.

Dr Saliu Orisunlagba maintained that respect remains reciprocal and called on residents to promote peace, unity, and common humanity as the state prepares for the forthcoming governorship election.

He urged political actors, community leaders, and residents to avoid inflammatory statements capable of creating unnecessary tension, insisting that Osun’s progress can only be achieved through peaceful coexistence, justice, and collective responsibility.
