Ambassador Ogundijo Amos Mayowa of the Methodist Church has been elected Chairman of the Youth Wing of the Christian Council of Nigeria (YOWICCN), Southwest Zone.
According to Thecasternews correspondent who monitored the election process, The election was concluded late Friday, July 24, 2026, at Osibo Anglican Church, Molete, Ibadan, during a convention attended by delegates, ministers and youth leaders from across the Southwest.
Following his emergence, Ambassador Mayowa expressed gratitude to the YOWICCN National President, Bro. Eniade Emmanuel, for attending the convention, and to the Osun State YOWICCN Chairman, Evangelist Afolayan S. Oladele, for his support. He also appreciated the President of the Methodist Youth Fellowship, Archdiocese of Ilesa, Amb. Ayodele Emmanuel Adekusibe, for his steadfast leadership and encouragement.
He further thanked ministers, dignitaries and voting delegates from the various member denominations across the Southwest for their confidence in his leadership.

Describing his election as a collective success, Mayowa said, “This victory is not just a personal achievement, but a collective triumph for the Methodist Youth and the entire body of Christian youth across Southwestern Nigeria.”
His election is being celebrated as a significant milestone for the Methodist Youth Fellowship, underscoring its growing influence in ecumenical youth leadership across the region.
As he assumes office with his newly elected executive team, congratulatory messages have continued to pour in from Methodist Youth Fellowship leaders, youth organisations and other Christian bodies, expressing confidence in a tenure focused on faith, unity and transformational service.
