A cleric and public Affairs commentator, Pastor Olaoye Emmanuel Adebowale, has called on Nigerian youths to embrace wisdom, discipline, and integrity as essential tools for national development and personal success. In a thought-provoking message titled “Be A Wise Youth: Nigeria’s Greatest Need,” Pastor Olaoye noted that while Nigeria is blessed with a vibrant, energetic, and talented youth population, the country continues to face challenges such as insecurity, unemployment, cybercrime, drug abuse, corruption, and a growing culture of instant gratification.
In a Statement Obtained by Thecasternewsnh.com, the nation’s major challenge is not a lack of talent but a lack of wisdom among many young people.Drawing lessons from 2 Chronicles 10:1–16, Pastor Olaoye referenced the story of Rehoboam, who inherited a great kingdom but lost much of it after rejecting wise counsel and listening to voices that fed his ego. He also cited Luke 16:1–8, where Jesus emphasized wisdom, foresight, and strategic thinking in navigating life’s challenges. He observed that many young people desire success but are unwilling to embrace discipline, while others seek wealth without pursuing wisdom.
He warned against shortcuts to success, noting that such paths often lead to destruction and disappointment. The cleric further encouraged youths not to lose hope despite the numerous challenges confronting the nation, stressing that every generation is ultimately defined by how it responds to adversity.”A wise youth does not blame the system alone; he develops solutions. A wise youth does not follow every trend; he follows purpose. A wise youth understands that integrity, competence, and character remain the true foundations of lasting success,” he stated.Pastor Olaoye urged Nigerian youths to choose knowledge over ignorance, innovation over excuses, hard work over shortcuts, and service over selfish ambition.
He emphasized that the future of Nigeria will not be built by the loudest voices but by the wisest minds, challenging young people to become part of the solution to the nation’s problems rather than victims of them.Quoting Proverbs 4:7, he said: “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom.
